Johnny Gereny

Johnny has been playing music since high school. He’s always had interest in guitar, with no real interest in becoming the lead vocalist for the band, however in search for a singer, the band realized that he was best fit for the job.

Johnny’s original inspiration to sing, is an unlikely story. After graduating from high school, he took a trip to Florida with some friends. While in Daytona Beach, at a local club’s open-mic night, Johnny finally got the nerve to sing in front of an audience.

Upon returning home, Johnny decided to start a band, and this is the spark and the fuel to the fire for what became the voice of Poison Whiskey.

The main inspiration for Johnny’s interest in guitar-playing, comes from several sources, such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. However, the main source of inspiration comes from a local favorite Dave Bell, of The Ravyns.

Johnny’s vision for his music and the band are to write and produce enjoyable, music, while creating a sense of personal uniqueness.

Johnny’s musical inspirations come from a variety of sources such as songwriter/singer Ronnie Van Zant, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Rogers, Bad Company, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, and Chris Isaak.
